u know i nearly drowned once off the coast of rio de janeiro i was staying with a lover i had met back in london in the snow and i was playing with the ocean floating underneath watching waves pass over me and the very next thing i remember i was half a mile stranded out to sea in a panic in the rip current taking water i remembered back when i was five and the day i learned i loved another person and what it meant to be alive and i remembered standing at the door of ur parents house holding on to my mothers hand and i found the necessary strength inside me to make it back to land
sometimes i sit and feel so lucky how'd i make it here i passed my thirty-one what with all the shit i put inside my body and the stupid things i've done sat in the back of speeding cars on busy city streets holding weight and cash stealing codeine pills from my fathers stash and i know i broke a few hearts on the way and there may be more and the truth is that i live with that inside me every day at my core cuz i never meant to hurt u but u know life deals in dirty tricks when it plays with u and the love i said i had inside my heart will never die until i do
